Invitation from Elisabeth Gehrer, Federal Minister for Education, Science and Culture

The Austrian Genome Research Programme GEN-AU is one of the largest research programmes in Austria. Within the 2nd Phase, the programme introduced many international actions. I am very pleased to invite you to attend the 1st International Conference of the Austrian Genome Research Programme GEN-AU to be held at the Hotel InterContinental Wien on 15 - 18 October 2006. The theme for the Conference is "Genomics for Health", covering cancer research and systems biology. The Scientific Programme Committee has organised an exciting programme that will cover the full range of interests from basic research to clinical applications as well as social and ethical aspects. Participants will enjoy a social program that will introduce them to the unique Austrian and Viennese lifestyle. There are also numerous opportunities for you to enjoy the fabulous tourist attractions before or after the Congress. I look forward to seeing you in Austria in October 2006.
